Detoxifying Salt Bath

Wednesday, 07 January 2015 00:00  by Emily S.

As we end the holiday season, and the stress and anxiety of traveling, huge crowds and decadent treats that accompany it, we must take time to rejuvenate our emotional wellness and mental health with a relaxing act of self-care.

Take time to detoxify your mind, body and soul with a warm salt bath. Sulfate and magnesium are readily absorbed through the skin and have the power to ease stress, reduce inflammation and draw toxins out the body. Essential oil peppermint improves our focus while lavender alleviates anxiety and depression. In addition to all of these wonderful benefits, a warm bath is one of the simplest ways to soothe the soul.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Sea Salt or Himalayan Salt
  • 1/4 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Favorite essential oil if desired (peppermint or lavender are good choices)

Instructions:

Dissolve Salt, Epsom salt, and baking soda in boiling water in a quart size jar and set aside. Fill tub with warm/hot water and add apple cider vinegar. Pour salt mixture in and add essential oils.
