The bitter cold that is sweeping across the nation not only affects our mood and mental health, making us more vulnerable to low energy, depression and anxiety, but it has a huge impact on our skin, nails and especially our hair. Cold weather can leave your scalp dry, itchy and flaky. The good news is there are many “do it yourself” hair and scalp masks that can get rid of dandruff and moisturize our hair, like this two-part hair care routine:
What you will need:
- Apple cider vinegar (raw and organic)
- Water
- Spray bottle
- Tea tree oil shampoo
- 2 Tbsp. Coconut oil
- 1 Avocado
Fill the spray bottle with equal parts water and apple cider vinegar. Part your hair at the crown and spray along the part. Spray from ear to ear, getting as close together as you can. Do this until the entire scalp is covered.
When you are done, tie it up and let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Next, rinse hair and wash it with tea tree infused shampoo.
Now on to the second part of the treatment. Smash avocado in a bowl, add the coconut oil and mix well. Work the mixture through your hair and massage the scalp. Once your entire head is covered, put your hair up and let it steep for 30 minutes or overnight. You can rinse using a mild shampoo or simply with cold water.
