Brookhaven Retreat®, LLC, a unique residential treatment facility exclusively for women with mental health and/or substance abuse issues, to host PCOS Awareness Walk in recognition of PCOS Awareness Month for clients and staff on September 7th.
Each September, PCOS Awareness Month is recognized throughout the world. The PCOS Awareness Association created this awareness month to increase worldwide awareness of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) while promoting a positive body image and self-esteem. The goal is to raise awareness by preparing, communicating, overcoming, and supporting women in all walks of life.
PCOS affects over 5 million women in the United States alone. It is oven characterized by infertility, irregular cycles, increased body hair growth, obesity, thinning hair, and skin issues. Women can improve their quality of life and decrease the possibility of PCOS through routine physical exercise, balanced eating, and regular self-care practices.
In recognition of PCOS Awareness Month, Brookhaven Retreat clients will host a PCOS Awareness Walk on September 7th. The walk will promote physical exercise and mindfulness while enjoying the sights and sounds of the pristine 48-acre grounds of Brookhaven Retreat. The walk will also be a time for reflection of challenges that clients may have experienced due to PCOS symptoms.
